This has left most of the roads in the municipality unmotorable and as such impeding development of other sectors of the economy.

All road contractors contacted disclosed that, the previous government never paid any money to them before the commencement of work; but promised to pay after the elections.

A promise that was never honoured.

This came to light during the Municipal Chief Executive’s community engagement tour. According to the MCE, Mrs. Jerryne Asante after assumption of office, she contacted the contractors concerned for them to resume work on the roads but was informed that the previous government asked them to start the work without any financial commitment.

But promised to make payments after the elections, which was never honoured, hence, the suspension of work.

She however, assured community members of the President’s commitment to fixing all poor road networks in the communities within the four-year period and all the contractors have been contacted and terms of payments have been agreed upon; so, they would soon be back to continue with works on the roads.

He added that she is committed to doing her part as the MCE to see to it that all deplorable roads are given a facelift.

Hon. Asante promised to release the DRIP machines to grade the access roads in most deplorable conditions while the contractors take over soon.

She reiterated that communities with broken bridges will be fixed as a matter of urgency while Sonsuaso and Asougya need new bridges to be constructed over the stream that separate them in order to link them to adjourning communities.
