We are here to help the government work to reset the nation - Akwamuhene of Deduako

The Akwamuhene of Deduako, Nana Baafour Kumanni Addo I has stated that he and his elders are ready to help the government work to reset the nation and bring development to the Deduako community and by extension the nation.

This was made known to the MCE for Ejisu, Mrs. Jerryne Asante during her community engagement tour to thank traditional rulers and the populace and also to solicit for their inputs in the development needs of their respective communities on 5th September 2025.

Nana said though as traditional leader, he has built a 2-storey block for the basic school, it is yet to be completed; and pleaded with the MCE to complete it for them as well as other needs which included: a public place of convenience, grading and possible tarring access roads in the community, street lights to curb crime, early evacuation of refuse at the dumping sits and a modern kitchen for the school feeding programme for the basic school.

At Sarpeh community, their needs are similar to most of the communities visited. These included urgent evacuation of the community’s refuse dumping site located in the centre of the community, public place of convenience, street lights, completion of six-unit uncompleted classroom block and commissioning of the completed 3-unit classroom block, extension of electricity to new sites, grading of access roads in the community and those linking it to adjoining communities and potable water.

According to Nana Duku Gyamfi I, Nefahene of Sarpeh on behalf of Nana Obeng Sika I, Chief of Sarpeh stressed that the public place of convenience is their priority among their needs so that there can be end to open defecation.

In her response, Mrs. Jerryne Asante, the MCE said developing the communities is a join partnership programme with Nananom though the government carries the greater burden; hence partly the reason for her visit to thank the traditional authorities and also take their imputes for the resetting agenda of the country so communities can be developed.

She promised to see to the immediate provision of potable water and public place of convenience for them while other needs are rolled out within the 4years tenure.

Mrs. Asante reiterated her government’s commitment to resetting the nation and so has made available interventions to help realised these. These are the national apprenticeship programme for those who want to learn trade. Total cost of learning including allowances throughout the training plus start-up kits after completion, support for PWDs, LEAP, soft loans for small/medium size traders.

For those who are interested in the security agencies, she encouraged them to fill the forms online to avoid being swindled by fraudsters. After which they can submit a copy of the filled to her to assist them in the selection for recruitment into the services.

Meanwhile, she encouraged that communities should use taboo days to do clean-exercises in their communities as part of the national sanitation day to keep the environment clean.
