Items received include, Refrigerators, Ice chest, Power guard, Knitting machine, Cutlass boxes, Wellington boots, Napsack sprayers, Weedicides, Sewing machine, A set of carpentry tools, Roofing sheets, motorbike, Wheelchair among others.
This programme is to ensure that PWDs are not left out in making them self-dependent to life by getting a dignified life as all other people.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr Anthony Adjei Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asutifi North District Assembly said, the Government remained focused on its commitment to enhance the living conditions of PWDs.
He added that providing them with an adequate standard of living, a basic level of income, thus reducing levels of poverty and vulnerability.
He again said they use to give their three percent of the common fund to them in cash, but some do spend all the money within few days and run back to the Assembly for help. Because of this, the President, Nana Akufo Addo has decided not to give the money to them again but rather use the money to buy items which they will need in their startup business or already existing businesses.
PWDs are already engaged in dignified trades of their choice to earn sufficient income for themselves and their dependents. They made their own choice of items which will help in their field of business.
Mr. Samuel Badu Baiden, District Coordinating Director advised the beneficiaries to use their items very well to get profit and desist from selling or hiring the items for money.
Some beneficiaries, who spoke in an interview, expressed their appreciation to the DCE, Asutifi North District Assembly, Social Welfare and The President Nana Akuffo Addo for their items and cash received.
