Construction of Public Employment Centre commences

The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations has cut sod for the construction of a Public Employment Centre at the forecourt of the Education Service in the Asutifi North District.

The construction of the office complex is going to ease the stress job applicants go through to know if there is a vacancy. Asutifi North is honored to be the district in the region for this project, said Mr. Anthony Adjei Mensah (DCE).

Addressing the audience, Mr. George Yaw Boakye, Ahafo Regional Minister, applauded the President Nana Addo Dankwa and Ignatius Baffour Awuah Minister of Employment and Labour Relations for bringing such projects to the district and the region as a whole.
Since the creation of the region, the Government has been in support by constructing Developmental Projects in the region such as The Fire Service Training School is 80% completed, two of the Agenda 111 project in Asutifi North and Asunafo South is supposed to be completed in December 16th 2023, and Technical Vocational Training (TVET) in Asutifi North and Asunafo North he added.

"We will talk to Newmont Company to bring their vacancies to the Public Employment Centre so that qualified candidates can access all information about employment vacancies,"

This project was communicated through the President of Ghana, Minister of Finance and Minister of Employment and Labour Relations to the World Bank with a proposal and was awarded $200 million to do employment related programmes. Moreover, $30 million was given to the Ministry of Employment to create 16 Public Employment Centres across the country, said Ignatius Baffour Awuah.
Now, the world is changing and most things are now electronic or digitalized and so, we are creating the Ghana Labour Market Information System that is data based, said Mr. Baffour Awuah.

According to the Minister, the Ghana Labour Market Information System will enable the unemployed and employers to put up their resume and vacancies respectively on the database. Adding to His address, the database will be in operation before the end of the year.

The Contractor for the project is Kpalua Company Limited and the project is expected to be completed within six month. The occasion was graced by Traditional Councils, Member of Parliament, Mr. Patrick Barnor, George Yaw Boakye, Directors of Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Assembly Members amongst others.
