He made the call in an address read on his behalf at the first Ahanta West Development Forum at Agona-Nkwanta.

Mr Addo said the developers should be concerned about environmental issues such as the conservation of wetlands and water bodies, forest and other natural resources.

He said to forestall these challenges the Regional Spatial Development Framework has been prepared to guide the management of land space.

He said these efforts could only succeed if landowners and particularly the District Assemblies are able to enforce to the letter the plan with the full cooperation of the various traditional councils and landowners.

Mr Joseph Dofoyenah, District Chief Executive, said it is time for Ghanaians to consider practical ways of working to meet the core development aspirations of the people.

He said: "We need to do away with the old method of œplanning for the people and adopt the method of planning together with the people."

Mr Dofoyenah said the local people need to be involved in the decision making process to promote community ownership and management of development facilities.

He said the District Assembly has approved the construction of a number of projects, including accommodation, modern offices and restaurants under a Public Private Partnership Arrangement (PPP) at two selected sites in Agona-Ahanta.

Mr Dofoyenah said a two-storey building with 73 lockable stores is being constructed under the PPP arrangement at Agona main market.
