MCE Addresses graduants on phase 2 of GrEEN Ghana project

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ahanta West Municipality Assembly, John Agyare has addressed a graduation ceremony at Hotopo, a programme under the GrEEN Ghana project.

In his address, he said it’s a four-year intervention project aimed at creating employment opportunities for the youths, women and returning migrants.

He further said the project has four result areas, which is being handled by cherished partners of the Assembly in Development which are the Ministry of Local Government, UNCDF, SOS-Ghana and SNV.

Mr. Agyare continued that the result areas has two phases, of which the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) handles result area 1 of the project to ensure that local economies are stimulated and short term opportunities are created for especially women, the youths and returning migrants through providing climate-resilient infrastructure like the beautiful Hotopo market under construction.

The result area 2 is also focused on providing life skills development support for Cash-for-work beneficiaries.

The MCE said this is the second phase of implementing the GrEEN Project in Ahanta West Municipality, and he is extremely delighted that Hotopo, his hometown, was selected for phase 2 of this project.

Hotopo gets a market infrastructure and more than 50 Cash-for-work beneficiaries being recruited and taken through several modules of life skills development training.

He extend his appreciation to the project management team at the Assembly, the community facilitator (Charles McCarthy), the UNCDF Team, SOS-Ghana and the entire project beneficiaries.
