According to him, the Municipality cannot be developed with a negative mindset; thus the need for attitudinal change.
The MCE gave the advice when he paid a working visit to Eastern 105.1 FM, a Koforidua based radio station to interact with the citizenry of Koforidua on some developmental projects, policies and interventions that the Assembly deemed it fit to implement from 2022 year.
The idea was also to encourage the citizenry to demonstrate the spirit of patriotism in the development and other socio-economic plans of the Assembly so that the Municipality will be a better place to stay.
The interaction which is part of the routine radio station engagement covered areas like decongestion, sanitation, Security and other developmental projects.
The MCE indicated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is poised to make Ghana a safe place to live, therefore, “those of us working under his administration has to ensure to make his vision becomes a reality by undertaking legacy projects which will be of remembrance to future generations”.
Mr Appaw-Gyasi again stated his vision for the New Juaben South Municipality, saying “I am going to embark on massive infrastructure, improve the ‘Internally Generated Revenue’ and also implement social and economic programme for the subsequent years ahead” he stated.
He cautioned traders who sell their wares on pavements and middle of the roads to leave the place by the end of December, 2021, as he said, “failure to comply to the rules will attract sanctions by the law”. He further gave them a period of time to relocate, which is from now to the end of the year.
Touching on ‘OPERATION CLEAN YOUR FRONTAGE’ campaign, the MCE said management cannot sit aloof and see the Municipality been swallowed by filth, “so we have designed a package that will ensure that every individual will have to clean his or her frontage”.
“Particularly, those doing business within and outside the central business area of Koforidua and the Assembly is in talks with the high court judge to let the law work on recalcitrant who flout the Assembly’s bye-law”, he added.
There are so many insanitary situations within the Municipality and it needs visionary leaders to initiate some which will ginger the populace to participate in any decision of the Assembly.
