The District Chief Executive, Mr. Isaac Akomaning Asamoah disclosed this to stakeholders at the second ordinary meeting of the first session of the Assembly.

Twenty-one Thousand palm seedlings have already been raised at three nursery sites located at Akropong, Sankubenase and Kwabeng.

These according to the DCE would be distributed to interested farmers in the district free of charge.

Meanwhile, the project is also being used to generate employment hence 10 people from each of the communities have been engaged to work at the nurseries, and this would provide a source of income for them.

PERD was introduced by government as part of measures to modernize agriculture production in Ghana to increase Ghana's revenue exportation of agriculture products.

To this end, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) are expected to identify an agricultural project initiative with one or two identified cash crops for support to be given to farmers to cultivate an average of 10 acres of the crops within the next four to ten years.

Government under PERD will also support each district financially to train youth in basic modern Agronomic practices under the PERD initiative and the District Centre for Agric Commerce and Technology (DCACT).
