DCE Celebrates Farmers Day with the people of Banda at Fawoman.

The 37th farmers’ day celebration in the Banda District took place at Fawoman. At the ceremony was the Chiefs and people of Banda and Fawoman in particular, the heads of the security services, the district heads of departments and Directors, former DCE Hon Mary Konneh, sponsors of the farmers day celebration, the award winners and the general public.

The chairman, Nana Yaw Mensah the Akyempemhene of the Banda Traditional Council in his speech asked the people to continue to live in harmony, work harder as farmers and uphold good practices that will ensure food security and prosperity for all.



Hon Emmanuel Akone sent a goodwill message to all farmers in Banda and thanked them on behalf of the president for taking advantage of the programs rolled out by the governement to help famers, i.e Planting for food and jobs, Rearing for food and jobs, Safety Net projects etc. He further advised the farmers to fully commit themselves to the directions of the agric officers and embrace the modern farming practices introduced by the governement to boost yield.

The DCE again pleaded with the chiefs to institute laws with his support and that of the district in their respective jurisdictions to guard against bush fires which he said has been a retrogressive factor to the development of agriculture in the district. He said everybody should see bush fires as an enemy of the progress of the district and it's people.

Mr Seidu Yahya from Banda Biema emerged the district best farmer and received aTricycle, organic fertilisers, cutlasses, Wellington boots, a napsack and other suvenirs, others received motor bikes, refrigerators, cutlasses, napsacks, roofing sheets and other assorted goods.
