Mr Samuel Sarpong, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), described the present condition of the classroom blocks as unacceptable and that they had not seen any rehabilitation since they were constructed about 50 years ago.

He said the lack of a fence around them had also resulted in the situation where part of the school compound had been turned into a
refuse dump saying things must change to make the environment more academic friendly.

Mr Sarpong said this after inspecting the Ahenbronum and the Pankrono “A” and “B” primary schools with the Tafohene, Nana Agyen Frimpong II.

He said the assembly would not only refurbish the schools but build additional classrooms for the Pankrono School and help create space and ease the congestion there.

Mr Sarpong said education was a top priority of the assembly and for that matter it would do everything to upgrade facilities, particularly in the deprived schools.

The Head teacher of the Old-Tafo primary schools, Madam Gladys Osei, said some drug addicts had been defecating on the school compound because of the lack of a fence, this she added, had become a source of health worry and there was the need for urgent measures to tackle the menace.
