Fire destroys surface fuel tanks at Yipala in Buipe

The swift intervention of the Buipe Fire Station saved the entire premises used for retailing of fuel (petrol and diesel) in surface tanks at Yipala, a suburb of Buipe from the ruins of fire that started in the morning of Tuesday 11th January, 2022.

The Station received a distress call at 0852 hours and got to the fire ground at 0858 hours. On arrival, it was realized that fire had engulfed six (6) surface fuel tanks and was spreading in all directions.


The fire was brought under control at 0903 hours and finally extinguished at 0908 hours.
Six (6) surface fuel tanks and their contents running into thousands of cedis suffered loss by the ruinous fire. No casualty was recorded.

The cause of the fire is not immediately known and investigation is underway to establish the exact cause of fire.


Meanwhile, efforts are underway for the owners of the affected fuel retail outlets to regularize their activities and put in the necessary safety measures to avert future occurrence.
