Gomoa West Assembly inaugurates Public Health Emergency Committee
The Gomoa West District headed by Bismark Nkum, District Chief Executive has inaugurated a Public Health Emergency Committee to implement President Nana Akufo-Addo’s directive to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to collaborate with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to institute measures to enhance conditions of hygiene in markets across the country.

The committee is made up of members of the District security committee, Health Directorate, Environmental Health Officer, Information Services Department, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Director and Director of Education.
“We have further established 3 sub-committees namely: Education & Sensitization School Monitoring & Environmental health to help curb the menace.
The committee has also procured Veronica buckets and soaps to be fixed at the various markets and public places.
The people of Gomoa West will receive constant update from the education and sensitization subcommittee which is charged to make use of the numerous information centres at our disposal”, the DCE has stated.
Ghana having recorded seven confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus is making every necessary effort to contain the virus which has become a global pandemic with worst affected areas being China, Europe, and America.
The government has closed down schools at all levels in the country and ban public gathering with large crowds at churches, mosques, funerals among others, and also issued some travel Advisories including a ban on visitors from countries with high numbers of the virus, all in the bid to curtail the spread of the virus in the country.
Advisories on how to manage the developments have also been announced by the Ministries of Health and Information. Public education is being intensified to ensure that citizens are well-advised on preventive measures.
