For several years, the people of Gomoa Denkyira have had to endure the ordeal of travelling very long distances to nearby towns in search of health delivery because the community itself has none of it to rely on.

The situation without doubt led to some loss of lives bringing untold hardship to a number of families.

But the people can afford to heave a sigh of relieve following the completion and handing over of a new and special Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound to the community.

The Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM) handed over the new health facility which is already being staffed to begin operation to the Gomoa West District Assembly, and received by the District Chief Executive who in turn handed it over to the District health Directorate before finally to the community.

The DCE, Bismark B. Nkum speaking to Ghanadistricts.com after the presentation commended CEDECOM for the such an important and timely intervention in the lives of the people of Gomoa Denkyira, adding the facility will ensure needless death will be curtailed since the people will have quick access to healthcare when the need arise.

According to him, travelling about 30kilometers to Apam or Agona Swedru was just too much particularly for emergency cases.

He was particularly happy that the new facility will pay special attention to maternal health delivery thus improving the lives of mothers and their babies.

He urged the people to take health seriously and patronize the facility to ensure they are always in good health to confront their economic activities.
