KMA and BIGRS organise workshop training for MTTD

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) as part of a six-year support project towards the Prevention of road traffic accidents in the Kumasi Municipality has organized a 4-day workshop on Speed Enforcement for selected Officers of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.

Officials from the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Annor Eric from the MTTD took the participants through Principles of a Safe System, Understanding the Risk factor-problem of speeding, speed enforcement, tactics and ways to conduct speed enforcement, speed enforcement technology and methods etc.

The resource persons indicated that the workshop would equip the MTTD in sensitizing road users and the public on the prevention of road traffic accidents in the Kumasi enclave.



They also called for more such workshops since most of the road accidents occur in West Africa especially, Ghana.

Superintendent Mr. Adu Boahen, the Ashanti Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) also appealed to the public to support the police to curb excessive speeding and other traffic infractions which are causing fatalities on the country’s roads.
