‘Akim Oda market not for NPP sympathizers’ – DACF Administrator

Administrator for the District Assemblies Common Fund, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has disproved claims that the government is only constructing the old Akim Oda market for sympathizers of ruling NPP-party instead of traders whose shops were destroyed by fire last year.

According to her, such statements are baseless, misleading and must therefore be disregarded by all right thinking Ghanaians.

She therefore urged the traders and the entire public to remain calm as the Assembly will follow due processes to ensure fair distribution of the shops when work finally completes.

Madam Naa Torshie Addo stated this when she visited Akim Oda on Friday to inspect the ongoing reconstruction work of the old Oda market.

“We have data of all affected traders and we want to assure you that every affected trader in the market will have a space to sell when work is finally complete”, she added.

She seized the opportunity to commend the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, over his crucial role in ensuring that work begins on the project.

She also urged residents of the area especially, traders who used to ply their trade in the old market to rally behind the Akufo-Addo government to deliver on its numerous promises.
