The Chief Justice made the call when she visited Atebubu as part of a 5 day tour of the Brong Ahafo region.

The court which was built in 1956 has developed visible cracks and as a result leaks during rainfall.

The Chief Justice decried the state of furniture at the court and the lack of space at the facility which makes for crowding in both the courtroom and the only office that serves the clerks describing it as undesirable.

She was also unhappy with the lack of water and toilet facilities at the court.

The district magistrate, His Lordship Joseph Hamidu Nasigre also told the Chief Justice about the bad state of his official bungalow.

Responding to the sentiments expressed by the Chief Justice, the Atebubu-Amantin municipal chief executive Hon. Edward Owusu said plans are already in place to get Atebubu a new court building adding that work will soon start on the residence of the magistrate.

The CJ directed that two building designs consisting of a single and double court rooms be made available to the MCE as soon as possible for necessary action whiles steps are taken to renovate the existing one.

She said the new municipality status should come with a circuit court adding that this could also serve neighboring districts namely: Sene east, Sene west, Pru east and Pru West.
