Provision of infrastructural facilities is non-negotiable - DCE

The District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman District Assembly, Mr Samuel Kwame Agyekum has led a delegation from the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Safe Water Network (SWN) and Nanaom to commission a water project at Adjena Pesse, a community in the district.

Mr Samuel Kwame Agyekum commended Safe Water Network (SWN) for the highly indispensable project which will improve the water predicament in the community.

He also emphasized the need for the management committee of the project and Nanaom to collaborate to put in place maintenance culture policy to see to the sustainability of the project.

The DCE remarked that, the District Assembly exists to facilitate and provide developmental project in the District Assembly.

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon Cecilia Abena Dapaa encouraged the Chiefs and people of Adjena and Pesse to embrace and maintain the peace and security being enjoyed in the country.

She said such act will draw more investors in the District and country as a whole.
The sector Minister also commended the Safe Water Network for the project and the model put in place to manage the project.


Cecilia Dapaa announced that government is contracting One Billion Ghana Cedis (GHC 1billion) by the end of the year to finance and commerce new water project across the country.

The Country Director for Save Water Network (SWN) Mr Charles Nimako noted that the organization makes use of mobile money technology (with code *700*7#) which will serve as mode of payment for use of the facility (at a cost of 10pesewes per bucket).

He also mentioned that, individuals who prefer to have the water project connected to their homes will also be done at a fee .He said revenue realized from the facility will be used for maintenance for the project.

Mr Nimako finally remarked that, samples of the water will be sent the Institute of Water Research to be tested monthly for certification.

The Chief of Pesse ,Nana Osae Nyampong VI ,also commended SWN for the project .

He also registered his displeasure about the slow pace of development by the VRA Resettlement Authority in his community and requested the District Chief Executive to intervene and expedite developmental projects on his land communities .
