The District Assembly, according to the District Chief Executive, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Asiedu has procured and installed irrigation equipment to enable farmers access water for dry season farming in the district.
This he noted will be a departure of the over-reliance on rain which can sometime prove very disappointing leading to crop failure and losses.
Mr. Asiedu noted that being beneficiaries of the “planting for food and jobs “programme, the Assembly has acquired land for cultivation of rice and pepper. And has received improved seeds of these two crops for distribution to farmers.
In the spirit of that the Assembly itself is cultivating half acre each of pepper and rice.
The DCE called on interested individuals particularly the youth to avail themselves to take advantage of these initiatives to improve their lots.
