The move the DCE who revealed this to Ghanadistricts.com in an interview is to gradually turn the district into one of the leading cocoa growing areas in the country; and an initiative to getting the energetic youth to replace the ageing farmers, adding that, farming was a rewarding business.
According to him, a total of four thousand five hundred and sixty-two (4,562) males and one thousand two hundred (1,200) female cocoa farmers have been registered under the initiative for the cocoa seedlings distribution and added that the seedlings would be distributed for free from the nursery.
He therefore urged the youth to take advantage of the intervention and take up cocoa production with great zeal and enthusiasm to help themselves and the district to become very productive in the cocoa sector.
The free distribution and other equally good interventions in the agriculture sector should serve as a motivation for the youth to venture into agriculture.
