The new school block was built under the auspices of the GNPC foundation.
Addressing a gathering, Mr Okpenyen indicated that education is the greatest gift that can be bestowed upon a child and so the NPP government had shown massive interest in the educational infrastructure of the three communities as it was under the erstwhile President Kuffuor's regime that a 6-unit classroom block was provided for them.
He mentioned that the classroom block will contain an ICT centre.
He also touched on some infrastructural developments in the educational sector that were ongoing in the constituency.
The leader of the team Dr. Dominic Eduah, enumerated that the GNPC Foundation was responsible for using proceeds from Ghana's oil to engage in developmental initiatives in the country. He indicated that it was necessary to ensure that a child in Domunli, Akonu, Agyan had the same level of quality education as a child in Sekondi-Takoradi and so entreated all the stakeholders to ensure that the new school block was put to efficient use and the facility be well maintained to serve its purpose to the fullest.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Nathaniel Kojo Afful thanked the DCE and the GNPC Foundation for providing them with a new classroom block. He indicated that the students had to commute long distances to get junior high school education which led to a decline of education in the community.
He indicated that the school will have a positive impact on the lives of students in the community and assured the MCE and the GNPC Foundation of ensuring the proper maintenance of the school.
The occasion was graced by Presiding Member, Chairman Nana Effate Beyeman, Queenmother of the community Obaahemaa Assifuah, party sympathisers and community folks.
