EJISU J: Health Directorate holds annual performance review meeting

The Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Health Service in the Ashanti Region has held its annual performance review meeting at Ejisu to access its performance in 2017.

It was also to deliberate on achievements, challenges and map up strategies to improve service delivery in the coming year.

The meeting attracted participants from the various health centers and institutions in the Municipality, Heads of department, Religion leaders, Traditional authorities and Assembly Members.

In her welcome address, the Municipal Director of Health, Madam Josephine Ahorsu, described the year under review as successful saying the staff strength increased from 670 in 2016 to 711 in 2017, was the contributory factor for the success.

She indicated that due to effective disease prevention and surveillance, the municipal has recorded no major disease outbreak which was a plus to the municipal.

Tiling of patients’ washroom at Nkyerepoaso, renovation of Doctor’s bungalow at Amoan-Achiase, Completion of X-ray unit landscape at Juaben, Creation of ward and laboratory at Bomfa, Construction of CHPS compound at Kwaso Health Centre, constructed maternity block with laboratory at Kwaso were some of the expansion and renovation works the directorate carried out during the year under reviewed.

Madam Ahorsu said as part of measures to motivate the staff to give up their best to ensure effective and efficient health care delivery, a number of training programmes were organized for the staff. She mentioned inadequate staff accommodation, inadequate modern equipment, poor attitude of staff towards performance appraisal, lack of inadequate transport, as some of the challenges faced by the directorate.

Touching on the way forward for the Municipal, She mentioned refresher training for staff, strengthen monitoring and supervision, provision of vehicles and motor bikes, staff accommodation among others as part of challenges and appealed to Ghana Health Services, Municipal Assembly, Member of parliament and NGOs to come to their aid to ensure that health care delivery is improved in the Municipality.
