This appeal was made clear by the Daffiama Bussie Issa District Police Commander DSP James Ackan. He commended the community and people of Daffiama for taking effective steps and engaging the Ghana Police Service to establish a watchdog committee.

He further appealed to community members to facilitate information on hoodlums and bad groups for swift action. The district police commander also noted that communities should not entertain fears in dealing with the police service.

He enumerated that another of the challenges facing the district command’s commitment to fighting crime was limited logistics and personnel, widening gaps between community and police relations, lack of accommodation, and exploitation from landlords in terms of rentals and failure to avail information. He concluded with the assurance of working closely with all stakeholders to maintain the peace of the district.

Mr. Tahiru Lukman, CEO of Ideapath Consult and Youth Activist, charged the community to appreciate political parties as a contest of ideas. He did not fail to mention the volatile atmosphere in the Sahel regions, including Mali, Chard, Niger, Burkina Faso, and among others.
He noted that the development in these countries must be an awake call for Ghana not to be caught off guard.

He added, “We need to understand the relevance of cultural diversity and acknowledge there is beauty in diversity; different religious beliefs, cultural orientation, and sense of ascribing to different political parties makes us unique.” He particularly noted that belonging to different tribes, parties, and religions should not breed hate among us.

Mr. Tahiru Lukman added that tolerance and co-existence will help Ghana conduct a peaceful presidential and parliamentary election in the upcoming 7th December 2024 elections. He concluded by urging communities and people to embrace the One Ghana Agenda and participate in building an inclusive society for all.

The deputy Upper West regional director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. John Yibile was thankful to the community and people for prioritizing community development to participate in this engagement. He equally acknowledged the contributions of the European Union (EU) for supporting the NCCEs with funding to implement this program.

He reaffirmed the NCCE’s commitment to building the capability of communities and the district to end all forms of violent extremism. He equally urged all community members to report suspicious characters or youth in crimes to the security agency as a matter of urgency. He re-echoed the development in the subregions and appealed to all to contribute their quota for Ghana’s success to remain enviable in the West Africa sub-region.

The Daffiama Bussie Issa District Director of NCCE, Mr. Abdul-Rahaman Osman was full of praise to the chief and people of Saapare for their effective participation. He noted that the Daffiama Bussie Issa District Directorate is committed to engaging communities and stakeholders to maintain the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the Daffiama Bussie Issa District.

The durbar was well attended by the community members, staff of the DBI Directorate, Media, the deputy upper West regional director, and the regional accountant of NCCE Madam Salamatu Adams.
The meeting ended with an open forum where participants sought clarifications and further explanation from resource persons.
