The MCE commended the assembly members for their patience towards the delivery of the bikes which he said would help them in getting closer to the people of their electoral areas and improve interaction.
He said it had not been easy for the assembly members in the past months commuting to and from the municipal assembly and their areas to enhance local government work and urged them to handle the motorbikes with care.
Though documents to cover licensing of the motorbikes were not ready at the assembly, the MCE said the Tumu Police would be contacted to discuss the possibility of allowing members to use them in the interim.
The Presiding Member, Mr. Jebunmie Tohari Luri, who received the bikes on behalf of the other assembly members expressed gratitude to the government for the gesture and re-echoed that the motorbikes would help the beneficiaries to deliver much better and strengthen local governance structures and performance.
The assembly members were cautioned to keep them properly against theft which was common in the areas.
