‘Public officers are like commercial trotro drivers’ - MCE
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Sissala East Municipal Assembly, Mr. Karim Nanyua, has likened his position as MCE to that of a private commercial 'troto' driver who works tirelessly everyday and later render financial account to owner of the vehicle.

This, he said was reason for his express readiness and that of the Assembly to ensure transparency and honesty to the local and grassroots people who would be genuinely demanding for accountability of his stewardship in an independent and non-partisan manner.
The MCE made the statement at a day public sensitization meeting on social accountability and local governance in Tumu, Thursday.
The special event was organised under the Civil Action for Accountable Governance (CAAG) project, and was convened by Asudev, a Civil Base-Society Organization (CBO).
In his keynote address, Mr Nanyua further encouraged residents to develop warm attitude to all forms of accountability Fora and meetings which are either organized by the Assembly or any other organization such as NGO's and CBO's.
He lauded Asudev for the initiative in the area.
However, he suggested to Asudev and other CBO's and NGO's to rethink their strategies in effecting social and behavioral changes in our part of the world; as research into the number of NGO's and other philanthropic organizations vis-à-vis the quantum of resources and socio-economic development still leaves a yawning gap.
He also charged project beneficiaries to sustain project impacts after these projects are decommissioned.
He ceased the opportunity to extend invitation to all stakeholders at the meeting to the upcoming general meeting of the Sissala East Municipal Assembly.
