Ablekuma West MCE expresses hope in new NALAG leadership

Mr George Cyril Bray, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma West says, he is hopeful that the new leadership of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), will bring on board their rich expertise in local governance to help promote the image of the Association.

According to the MCE, he is also looking forward to some transformational and innovative ideas that will enable Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) perform up to expectation.

“I am in high expectation because this I think this is a crop of experienced guys and we [members] are looking at they bringing their experience to bear", the soft-spoken MCE stated.


The President for instance, has been an assembly member before; he’s been District Chief Executive before and now the Director General of NADMO. He is got a rich experience, so we are looking at he bringing it to bear so that the Assemblies do better”, the MCE noted.

Mr Bray, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with Ghanadistricts.com and TV also charged the new leadership to go beyond the distribution of motorbikes to Assembly members by also looking at some critical areas that will inure to the benefit of all members.


He also called on the new President of NALAG, Mr Eric Nana Agyeman Prempeh, to be accountable to his own words by fulfilling the numerous promises he made to delegates that recently held biennial conference in Kumasi.

“It will be in his own interest that whatever he says he can hold himself to it and deliver. Such that, going for his second term he would even find it easier going through that election” he added.


Meanwhile, the President of NALAG, Mr Eric Nana Agyeman Prempeh had earlier disclosed his intention to swiftly implement what he described as a “repositioning agenda” of the Association.

“I wish to assure all of my quick implementation of the repositioning agenda. This starts with rebranding and uplifting the image of the organization. Next is to developing a proper welfare scheme for all assembly members in the country.”

“The issue of constitutional amendment and reform shall be look at in conformity with the grown dynamics of the organization” the President said.
