Ablekuma West Assembly supports PWDs

The Social Welfare Department of the Assembly donated support to People with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality prior to an engagement held months ago on their concerns and needs to aid and empower their way of living and livelihood.

The coordinating director, Mr. Samuel Amoah in his address to the gathering, stated that, disability should not limit their capabilities and that; the gathering was to encourage and aid their livelihood.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) , Mr. George Cyril Bray expounded that, People with Disabilities are vital people in our society thus, government established measures in ensuring that the needed support is given to the Assembly to aid PWDs in the municipality.

Mr. Bray expatiate that, the items were directly requested from the PWDs to start up a business, equip their business and to pay their ward’s fees which would be paid directly at various schools. He pleaded with the recipients to utilize the provisions for its intended purpose.
The items distributed to 19 Beneficiaries were; 8 Chest Freezers, 2 Standing hair dryers, 1 Industrial Sewing Machine, 1 Fufu machine, 1 Popcorn machine, 1 Gas cylinder and Sums of money to PWDs; intellectual impairment, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, physical challenged, visually impaired and mentally challenged.

The chairman, Mr. Fred Tetteh Mill Wowolo encouraged the gathering to pay special attention to PWDs with love, utmost care and avoid discriminating against them. He also advised that the items received should be put into good use and not as souvenirs.

A volunteer at the gathering thanked the Assembly for its generosity and constant support towards the PWDs in the municipality. She also assured that; every support received would be utilized effectively.

In attendance were Mr. Samuel Amoah, the deputy director; Dr. Abdul Rahman, the facilitator; Mad. Paulina Mensah, Heads of department and Relatives of PWDs.
