He said the REGSEC considered the security situation of the University paramount hence the closure.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in a telephone interview, Mr. Ninsin expressed the hope that an agreement would be reached soon on the resolution of the impasse for academic work to begin.
A visit to the three campuses by the GNA on Saturday showed no activity but personnel from the Formed Police Unit and the UEW Security were on guard at the gates.
Mr. Ninsin said the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr. Axexander Afenyo Markin, and the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan, was holding meetings to speed-up the processes of finding a lasting solution to the impasse.
It would be recalled that some students staged a three-day demonstration to demand the recall of some lecturers alleged to have been dismissed by the Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Professor Anthony Aful-Broni.
The alleged dismissal of the lecturers sparked the demonstration, which later turned violent, leading to the destruction of school property.
Two female students sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Some of the students who could not travel back to their homes are said to be putting up with friends and on church premises.
