The Awards scheme was commissioned by the Member of Parliament to reward hard-working teachers in the Municipality. Since its inception, deserving teachers have won several prizes to inspire other teachers to follow suit.

Speaking at the launch of the 3rd Edition of the event at a ceremony held in Winneba, the Effutu Member of Parliament and Second Deputy Majority Leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, Alexander Afenyo- Markin, bemoaned the negative impact of social media on the Ghanaian youth.

The MP noted the consequences of the effects of social media cannot be measured and called on both teachers and parents to play their roles in shaping the future of the Ghanaian child.

He blamed parents for reneging on their responsibilities as primary stakeholders of education adding that the role of teachers alone cannot yield the needed results until parents join forces with them to assist in that regard.

Mr Afenyo- Markin while launching the 2022/2023 Effutu Best Teacher Awards and Quiz Competition urged the Awards Committee to ensure sincerity and transparency in the selection process to ensure that the most deserving teachers win the awards.

Present at the function were the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim and the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Mabel Judith Micah.
