Capt Mahama was brutally murdered on his usual early morning physical exercise when a mob attacked him, stoned and burnt him claiming they mistook him for an armed robber.

The attack on the young soldier has so far, raised huge public outcry also leading to the suspension of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Daniel Apiannin.

The DCE is believed to have made some reckless comments suggesting the deceased and his other colleagues were in the area to protect illegal Chinese miners, a statement that is contrary to the Military High Command’s claims that they were rather in the area on an anti-galamsey mission.

However, in a press conference organized by all eighteen members of the assembly led by Presiding members, Gabriel Kwadwo Karikari, expressed their regret about the inhuman action and thus pledged their support to government and the police to help bring the perpetrators to book.

“No person is happy about what has happened, as you know in every community we have bad people in our midst, that’s why this thing has happen. But all we are saying is that we are not happy and we are not even and will not be forgiven those who are involved”.

“We are ready to help the government fish out everybody who is involved in the act” the PM stated at the press conference today .

The PM also rendered an unqualified apology to the high hierarchy of the Ghana Armed forces, government and further called for the physical presence of President Akuffo Addo in the community. This, according to them will help provide the President with firsthand information about the entire issue.

Meanwhile, 14 persons have so far been arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in the attack.
