BOSOME F: Take your studies seriously

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. John Alexander Ackon has asked basic school pupils to study hard since their performance at the basic level is crucial to their future educational attainment.

He entreated them to respect their teachers and be disciplined in achieving success in life.

Mr. Ackon made the call at Asamma, a farming community in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region as part of his tour of the district to mark this year annual national event ‘My First Day at School’ which is aimed at encouraging pupils attending school for the first time to like the school environment.

He stated that school was one of first places where children’s behaviour and future educational success was shaped and therefore teachers must create a warm and protective environment to ensure their development.

Mr. Ackon noted the importance of education to the progress and survival of very country, and appealed to parents to co-operate with teachers to supervise their children education adding that Government is making sure kids get all that they need in their studies.

The District Chief Executive for the area, Hon. Kwame Adarkwah reiterated the assembly’s commitment in ensuring infrastructural development to accommodate more pupils for effective teaching and learning.

He stressed that the Assembly saw Education as the backbone for national growth and as part of its responsibilities had taken keen interest in child development in all communities especially in the deprived areas. Mr. Adarkwah therefore, announced that the assembly is instituting a scholarship to cover students at Basic level who will excel in the BECE.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education Mrs. Mary Akyaw, who welcomed the pupils said one of the main reasons of organizing ‘My First Day at School’ was to encourage parents to send their kids to schools and also to encourage them to stay in school and appealed to the school children to always wash their uniforms and also maintain personal hygiene. The new pupils were presented with exercise books, biscuits, begs, toffees kalyppo among others.

The Regional Minister and his entourage visited six schools in the district including: Asamma Presbyterian, Freso R/C, Freso SDA, Krochekrom SDA, Tebeso No I R/C, Tebeso No II D/A and Anhwiaso Methodist Primary schools.
