WEIJA: Work begins on two KG blocks

Deputy Minister for Health, Tina Ayele Mensah together with Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Weija Gbawe, Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor has cut to commence construction work on two separate kindergarten (KG) blocks at Oblogo and Weija communities.

Work on the projects is expected to commence 4th July, 2019.

The projects are geared towards ensuring that quality teaching and learning is provided under the Free and Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) system.

Speaking at short ceremonies in the two communities, the Minister, who also doubles as Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija, indicated that, the two projects will help reduce overcrowding in classrooms in the beneficiary schools.


She was optimistic that projects will also go a long way to encourage children in the area to go to school.

The Minister also ceased the opportunity to encourage authorities of the schools to adopt maintenance culture in order to prolong the life span of these projects when finally completed and handed over for use.

On his part, Mr Brako Kumor reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to towards education in the area, adding that his outfit is taking giant steps to resource basic schools in the municipality to deliver up to expectation.


He said, although the assembly is currently being faced with challenges, providing access to a quality education still remains pivotal on its priority list. He added that conscious efforts are being made to improve both basic and secondary education in the municipality.

The ceremonies were well attended by the elders of the communities, staff of the Assembly, members of the community and some NPP loyalists.
