AKYEMANSA: New astro turf to boost sports development – DCE assured

Young football lovers in the Akyemansa District in the Eastern Region should brace themselves to avail themselves to develop their football talents in the near future.

This follows plans by the District Chief Executive for the area, Paul Asamoah who revealed is intention to set up under 14 and 16 football clubs to help nuture football talents in the district.

Being a football enthusiast, the DCE said the completion of the starndard astro turf in the district through the help of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation provides a suitable environment for them to create avenue for the youth to develop their interest in footfall.

Though the first phase of the astro turf project has been completed, which is the main pitch itself, and has been made available for use by the people, the DCE said they have not abandoned the second phase which is the sitting areas.

He said it is their hope to develop the facility to attract and be useful to both players and spectators; hence plans are on course to build the sitting facilities.

Government has for the past few years embarked on the construction of a number of Astroturfs across the country to improve sports infrastructure to help unearth talents, and the Akyemansa District was fortunate to be one of the beneficially districts.
