KWAHU W: Markets, public places to be disinfected on Saturday

The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region will be undergoing a mass spraying exercise of all the markets and lorry stations in the Municipality on Saturday, 4th April 2020.

The Municipal Coordinating Director Hon Alhaji Issah Mussa, said, the assembly has received and acted on a couple of directives from the presidency since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country and therefore deems it necessary to brief the press on progress made so far and the way forward.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Yaw Owusu Addo stated that the assembly has met with all stakeholders to discuss and agree on several initiatives and directives, most of which come from the presidency such as adherence to social distancing, regular washing of hands and sanitizing, avoiding hugs and handshaking.



He further noted that the assembly has again provided veronica buckets and sanitizers at several vantage points where there is public congestion including the procurement of PPE’s, monitoring and detective gadgets to test persons who sojourned to Nkawkaw due to the partial lockdown from other parts of the country for possible cases.

According to the MCE, market activities will be closed to the public from Friday 5:00 pm to Sunday at 10:00am to allow for disinfection exercises in all markets and lorry parks within the municipality.

Mrs. Celestine Asante, the Municipal Health Director also reiterated the fact that the Kwahu West Municipality has so far not recorded any COVID-19 case and called on residents to adhere to the preventive measures than cure.
