Welcoming the District Chief Executive, Nana Annin Agyekum II Gyaasehene and Reagent of Akrofuom expressed his gratitude for the visit and congratulated him for the appointment to the august position as the DCE for the district.
The Gyaasehene in his welcome address indicated the numerous developmental challenges in the district especially, in the Akrofuom constituency. We have been neglected for far too long and that you have been selected as the DCE you will turn your eyes here this time.
The Chief specifically mentioned the road from Akrofuom through Nkoransa to Sikaman which was started nine years ago but was abandoned, the Akrofuom streets, and the poor drainage systems which make it difficult for cars to move in the town except the main street; and the construction of access roads to the new sites at Akrofuom. He also made mention of the extension of pipe borne water to the new sites and additional reservoir to augment the old one.
Speaking on telecommunication, Nana Annin Agyekum II pleaded with the DCE that as a matter of urgency he should use his good office to bring mobile connectivity to the area. “ We have police stations at Sikaman and Amponyase but these areas have no mobile connectivity, it therefore makes it difficult to get in touch with the police personnel in case there is any criminal activities in any areas; I will be very happy if you help us in this direction as early as possible” The chief said.
The chief also pleaded with Hon. Francis K. Ankomah to secure the Akrofuom community with low tension electricity poles for the new site of the town to enable them to get hooked to the electricity grid.
The Chief concluded by saying that all the Traditional Council Members are solidly behind the DCE and they will always be at his disposal for the necessary direction and prayers for him to succeed.
Hon. Francis Ankomah in his response to the chief’s request and advice said that he cannot do anything without the consent of the traditional authorities since they are the custodian of the land on which development projects are located.
He promised to consult them when the need arises. “My doors are opened to you all, do not hesitate to come to me for any discussion since two heads are better than one” The DCE posited. He concluded by pleading with the Traditional Leaders to pray for him to succeed in the task ahead of him.
The Presiding Member of the District Assembly Hon. Jonas Morrison Woode in a short address said that the Assembly Members and the Staff of the District Assembly will all give the DCE the needed and necessary support for him to bring the needed development all are looking for in the district.
Present at the meeting were the District Coordinating Director, Mr. William Melede, Mr. Tabri Bonsu the District Engineer, Mr. Rutherford Osei the District Planning Officer and Ms. Vincentia Amponsem the Deputy District Coordinating Director.
The rest were the constituency Executives of both New Edubiase and Akrofuom constituencies, the Assembly Members of the area and a cross-section of the general public.
