Third Assembly of Ga South inaugurated
A 28-member Ga South Municipal Assembly was on Monday, February 12, 2024 inaugurated in accordance with the Local Governance Act, 2016, (Act 936) to deepen local governance and decentralization.

This inaugural ceremony forms the third Assembly of the Ga South Municipal Assembly and consists of 19 elected assembly members and 9 government appointees. They were sworn in by Her Worship Emelia Abroquah.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Nyarni Stephen stated that the inaugural ceremony marks important steps in decentralization as a nation.
He congratulated all members for their successful election to serve as members of the Ga South Municipal Assembly.
He entreated new members to embrace the core values of excellence, proactive, smartness and teamwork by the assembly to foster development.
In a speech read by the Council of State Member Alhaji Suleiman Yirimea, he charged them to use their mandates to maintain close contact with the electoral area; consult the people on the issues to be discussed in the District Assembly; collate their views, opinions, and proposals; and take part in communal and development activities.
