The Youth Organizer hopeful who was addressing some delegates and party supporters in the constituency last Sunday said "Afram Plains is gradually becoming a neglected place and have been left to its fate after lucking many social interventions which are all birthrights for the people of Afram Plains".

According to him, "education in the area has been a big challenge where most school children walk many kilometers before attending school every day. Afram Plains which cover one-third of Eastern Region in terms of land size can boost of only one hospital which has also been left to it fate lacking so many equipment to meet the standard of hospital to serve over 120,000 people in the area".

"It is sad to be in Afram Plains, today public officers are refusing to serve their motherland from Afram Plains, even National Service Personnel find it difficult to do their service in any of our two Districts, Afram Plains North and South because they feel it is a punishment bringing them to these remote area to work", he lamented.

He then appealed that government should prioritize and address the concerns of the people of the area by bringing back the University for Environment and Sustainable Development campus allocated to the area by the erstwhile John Mahama administration which he believes will help solve most social interventions problems facing the area.

According to the Youth Organiser hopeful, bringing back the campus will help reduce the cost of burdens they are facing in the area. There would be increase in their human resource, improvement in the socio-economic activities of the area where a lot of investors will come to invest, creation of lasting job employments for the teaming youth since most of our youth now seek greener pastures outside their communities due to luck of employment in the area.

He then observed that with the presence of the University, the major road network in the area which is the highway from Ekye Amanfrom to Agodeke and Amankwa Tonu which has developed manholes and has not received any attention from the central government will be attended to.

"I believe when the University is brought back to Afram Plains our manhole highways will be attended to, our bridge on the Afram River from Adawso to Ekye Amanfrom will be constructed to make transportation easier, affordable and stress free for the people of the area and our hospital to will see some improvement in its equipment among other things”.

It could be recalled that in 2015 the Parliament of Ghana passed an act for the establishment of the Eastern Regional University of Environment and Sustainable development with the main campus at Somanya and a satellite campus in Afram Plains Donkorkrom.

It was later alleged that the NPP government after winning the 2016 elections relocated the satellite compus from Donkorkrom to Bunsu in the Fantiakwa District.

This move which triggered series of press conferences at that time to outline the importance of a tertiary institution to the people of Afram Plains and how it will help in the socio-economic growth of the area whiles contributing towards the development of the nation by the Chiefs, elders and citizens of the area seems to fall on deaf ears of the government.

Mr. Emmanuel Mbeebi who said, he believes Afram Plains can be developed rapidly with the establishment of the satellite campus in the area, sited Abetifi the District capital of Kwahu East as an example saying "Abetifi would be one of the quiet and slow towns in the country hadn't been the establishment of the Presbyterian University and other educational institutions but look at how it is now the community is booming".

Educating delegates on why they should make him Youth leader of Afram Plains South ahead of 2020 elections said "my main focus is to win 2020 general elections not just winning but winning overwhelmingly, increasing our vote and widening the intervals between our candidate and that of the NPP".

He then revealed that "even though we won this Constituency during the 2016 general elections, our vote were reduced and it get to a point I was afraid we might lose the Parliamentary sit but thanks be to God and you the delegates for your good work to make the NDC great and strong even though we were facing some challenges then".

He then called on delegates to mobilise and unite the grassroot, rekindling the spirit towards victory 2020 advising the party hierarchy to fast track the issues surrounding the election of party executives at the Constituency level before the elections of the national executives questioning the eligibility of delegates to represent the Constituency at the national conference to elect the national executives.
