Former PM of Kumawu now DCE

The Kumawu District Assembly has voted massively for the president’s nominee, Hon. Samuel Addae Agyekum formerly the Presiding Member (PM) for the assembly as the new District Chief Executive (DCE).

He polled 35 votes representing 97% out of the 36 valid votes cast in a relatively peaceful proceeding supervised by the District Office of the Electoral Commission.

 

 

The Council of State for Ashanti, Nana Owusu Acheaw Abremponghene who represented the Ashanti Regional Minister in his remarks called for unity among assembly members and the political leaders to bring about the needed development in the district.

 

 

He used the opportunity to speak to farmers about plans to see the fruition of the one village one dam project by H. E the president.

 

 

His Lordship Michael Oduro earlier sworn in three government appointees to add to the existing number. He took them through both the oaths of secrecy and allegiance.

 

The Member of Parliament for the district, Hon. Philip Afrah called on members present to give the necessary support and cooperation to the new DCE and forge ahead to improve the livelihood of the people of Kumawu.

 

 

Mr. Samuel Addae Agyekum was grateful to the assembly members, the traditional council and the general public for their support and confidence reposed in him.

 

He promised to do his best to unite the assembly and subsequently bring about development.

 

He was optimistic of a more united assembly since the DCE, Mr. Samuel Addae Agyekum in these few days leading to his confirmation was able to organize the assembly members rally behind him.

 

Also present were Omanhene of kumawu, Barima Tweneboah Kodua V and traditional leaders from the Kumawu Traditional Council, Party executives and former DCE’s as well as Presiding Members from neighboring districts.
