61st Independence Anniversary at Kwabre East District

The Kwabre East District joined the nation to celebrate the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary at the Mamponteng cluster of School Park on the 6th of March, 2018.

In attendance were over 1,200 students selected from some public and private junior and senior high in the district. Also in attendance were cadet corps and some voluntary groups.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu said all Ghanaians must continue to unite in order to achieve the desired development.

He said our forefathers who managed to get us the independence were united and determined so despite the challenges we should be able to achieve the ultimate.

Hon. Asibey Bonsu again assured that the Assembly will continue to ensure that all Ghanaians living in the district are secured. He was however worried that armed robbery was rising on the ascendancy. He therefore, called for all stakeholders to contribute their quota to bring the high rising spate of armed robbery to a halt.

Students then marched to entertain the numerous people from all walks of life who have gathered at the park for the celebration.

In attendance included the Member of Parliament Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, District Director of Education, Ms. Christiana Abrefi Ampeh, District Police Commander, Commander Sulley, the Clergy in the district, Imams, District Fire Officer, Chief of Mamponteng, Queenmother of Mamponteng, Nana Kyerew Abenteg party officials, of NPP head of Departments and teacher and heads of various schools.

Mary Afriyie S.D.A Primary and J.H.S. won both primary and junior high schools category with Great Quality International School taking the second position and Mamponteng R/C School also taking the third position in the junior high school category.

Mamponteng R/C Primary School took the second position and Fallahia Islamic School also took the third position in the primary category. Our Lady of Grace Senior High School won the S.H.S, followed by Adventist Girls Senior High and Gyaama Pensan Senior High in that order.

In the cadet category, Gyaaman Pensan placed first, Simms Senior High School placed second and Adanwomase SHS placed third.
The parade commander was Commander Eric Darko.
