The assembly has, since 2009, presented a total of 1,646 dual desks to the Municipal Directorate of the GES.

Nii Ephraim, Municipal Chief Executive, supported by Mr Abraham Koomson, Chairman of the Education Sub-committee of the assembly, made the presentation.

The MCE said the presentation formed part of the responsibilities of the assembly at creating conducive environment for teaching and learning in the schools.

He said three new school blocks were under construction and assured the GES of the assembly’s readiness to furnish them with the needed desks, tables and chairs immediately they were completed.

Nii Ephraim said the attainment of quality and holistic education by children should not be the responsibility of the government alone and, therefore, called on all and sundry to contribute their quota to complement governments efforts.

Mrs Hilder Hagan, Effutu Municipal Director of Education, who received the desks, expressed her appreciation to the assembly for their continuous support to the directorate.

She said the presentation would go a long way to address some of the challenges of the schools and expressed the hope that the assembly would assist with more desks and other teaching and learning materials.
