MCE presents oil palm and citrus seedlings to farmers

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Obuasi, Elijah Adansi-Bonah has handed over 15000 Oil Palm Seedlings and 12,850 Citrus seedlings to Nana Agyenim Boateng, the Chief of Mamiriwa Number 2 in Obuasi for onward distribution to some farmers in the Municipality.

The distribution falls under the government’s flagship planting for Export and Rural Development (PERP) initiative.

The MCE during the presentation noted that programme sought to transform the Agricultural sector to address the economic fundamentals by expanding and diversifying the sector to earn foreign exchange from agricultural exports and generate jobs.


Mr. Adansi-Bonah appealed to the farmers to ensure successful implementation of the program by using modern trends, skills and management on their farms to improve productivity and also urged them to take the project seriously for their own benefit that of the country as a whole.


Receiving the seedlings for onward distribution, Nana Agyenim Boateng commended the Assembly for such initiative and thanked the MCE for the gesture and pledged their support to sustain the project.
