Mr Kofi Dwomoh Asubonteng, the Municipal Coordinating Director, who performed the ceremony on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, said "all hands must be on deck to make the event a big success."

The launch, the first time ever in the municipality, was attended by a number of stakeholders in the Agriculture sector, who have over the years been contributing towards the organization of the Farmers' Day celebration in the area.

Mr Asubonteng noted that farmers continue to make tremendous contribution to the growth of the economy and so it is important that the nation gives them the deserving recognition.

He said they need to be encouraged to continuously improve their farming activities whilst motivating the youth to go into farming.

Mr Kwadwo Boamah Djan, the Municipal Director of Agriculture, said this year's celebration would be held under the theme: "Grow More Food."

He said it is, however, unfortunate that "our agriculture workforce is aging, with the youth migrating out of the sector for lack of interest".
He attributed the slow growth in the agriculture sector to a number of factors, including lack of motivation and incentives to invest and produce.

Mr Djan commended previous award winners in the municipality and encouraged them to sustain their farming ventures.
