He said the increasing rate of chieftaincy and land disputes is a worry to the government and has therefore appealed to chiefs to contribute to the settlement of disputes to augment development.

Mr Eshun made the call during an end-of-year meeting of Eastern Nzema Traditional Council at Atuabo in the Western Region.

He said disputes retard the development of communities and scare away investors.

The DCE prevailed upon the chiefs to assist the Assembly in revenue mobilisation to facilitate the development of their localities.

The Omanhene Awulae Amihere Kpanyinle IV explained that the meeting of the Council was aimed at reviewing the activities of 2011 and also plan to work better in 2012.

Some of the issues being discussed at the meeting includes sanitation, transport and the way to improve fishing in the coastal communities of the district among.

Awulae Kpanyinle called on the chiefs not to meddle in activities that could tarnish their image.

He also pledged the Council’s support to the Assembly to aid development.
