NGO donates to East Gonja District
Desert Research Institute (DRI), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has donated six tricycles and water quality testing kits to the East Gonja Municipal Assembly.

The donation was aimed at facilitating easy movement of borehole mechanics known as circuit riders to over 72 communities within the Municipality to repair and maintain boreholes in the area to ensure access to portable drinking water.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Mohammed Tamimu in an interview expressed gratitude to the NGO for their support to the district. He was optimism that the move will help address the acute water challenges in the area by ensuring that boreholes in various communities are properly maintained to ensure their intended purposes.
He said the circuit riders with the aid of the tricycles and testing kits would visit all communities that have borehole on regular inspections to repair broken parts of the boreholes to ensure continues supply of water.
He was hopeful that all communities in Salaga and its environs would benefit from the donation and have access to quality, improved and safe drinking water to avert water borne diseases in the area.
He appealed to DRI and other benevolent organizations to consider exploring the tourism potentials of the area to turn the fortunes of the Municipality for the needed development.
