KETU S: Torgbui Fiti hopeful of creation of Aflao Municipal Assembly

Paramount Chief of Aflao, Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V has expressed hope that their quest for the creation of Aflao Municipality would be granted.

According to him, the whole of Aflao is in high spirit to see Aflao Municipality curved out of the present Ketu South Municipality following indications by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development for the creation of some new districts, and elevation of some existing ones.

To this end, Torgbui Fiti V stated that the chiefs and the people of Aflao are working hard to meet the Local Government Minister to present to her the outcome of the work done so far, as a follow-up to their previous meetings.

The Paramount Chief who was speaking at the grand durbar of the 2017 Godigbe Festival also made a passionate appeal to the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, who represented the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reconsider the amount paid by traditionalist to acquire their certificate, adding, the amount is too much compared to what even churches are paying to allow them operate.

He called on the Sector Minister, and the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Soglo Alo V to work assiduously, and within the confines of the law to bring sanity to the chieftaincy institution. This, he noted, will not be without challenges including court cases, but urged them to stand their ground to help bring stability into the institution.

He further commended the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for his efforts at bringing the Togo crises under control, urging him to work hard at it until the problem facing that country is resolved.

Chiefs from other countries including Congo, Benin, Togo and Cameron who graced the occasion urged the youth to make themselves productive but cautioned them to be careful not to fall victims to the inhumane treatments some of their African brothers are subjected to in Libya.
