ER Minister warns students not to dropout of sch

Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Eric Kwakye Darfour has emphasized the importance of education to every Ghanaian child and has therefore impressed upon students not to dropout of school regardless of the difficulty or circumstances they find themselves.

According to him, it was this reason that President Nana Akufo Addo has prioritized education in his first term of office by introducing and improving some key educational interventions such as the free Senior High School and also expansion of the school feeding programme to increase enrollment.

Mr Dafour stated this when he commissioned two separate classroom blocks for the Senchi Methodist and Anum Anglican Schools and also donated a sizeable number of furniture to the Anum Vocational Institute, all in the Asuogyaman district.


The Anum Vocational Institute was also assisted with 20 computers to help improve ICT training.

Speaking at the event, the Minister disclosed that the donation was in fulfillment of a request placed by the school for government to assist them with furniture to help improve teaching and learning.


He appealed to authorities of the school to develop maintenance culture in order to help keep the furniture in good shape. He also ceased the opportunity to express appreciation to the Minister of Education and GETFUND for the classroom projects.

District Chief Executive of the area, Samuel Kwame Agyekum stated that his hard work in the education sector since he assumed office as DCE has paid off as the District has now moved from 17th to 10th position on the Regional education ranking.


He continued that, pass mark for exams in area has also improved from 67.8% to 73.1%.

The District Education Director on her part, lauded the Minister and the DCE for their intervention in completing the projects in time to meet the demand.
