Suhum Traditional Authority to get an ultra-modern palace

A sod-cutting ceremony has been performed to begin work for the construction of an ultra-modern palace for the Paramount Chief of the Suhum Traditional Area, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi and the queen mother, Nana Yaa Sakyibea.

The sod-cutting was performed by the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mrs. Margaret Darko Darkwa, assisted by the Paramount Chief of the Suhum Traditional Authority, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi, the Queen mother, Nana Yaa Sakyibea, the Member of Parliament for the Suhum Constituency, Hon. Fredrick Opare Ansah and other dignitaries.

In his address to welcome the people to the ceremony, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi thanked the almighty God for making him see this day. He also thanked the five royal families of Suhum for their collaborative efforts and readiness to contribute to making the project a success. He said building a palace was the dream of his predecessor, hence the need to bring this project into fruition. Osabarima urged all sons and daughters of Suhum, both home and abroad, to contribute to making the project a success.



In her speech, the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mrs. Margaret Darko Darkwa said the government of the NPP is dedicated to unity and development, hence her readiness to collaborate with the Member of Parliament and Nananom to make the project a success.

The MCE urged the youth in the municipality to refrain from violence, as it does not speak well of Suhum. She continued that she is dedicated to developing policies that will help the youth in diverse ways and create more jobs.

The Member of Parliament for the Suhum Constituency, Hon Fredrick Opare Ansah also expressed his happiness for being part of the ceremony. He said Suhum is a large community that needs a modern palace, hence the need for all Suhumman to assist Osabarima Ayeh Kofi to bring this historic project into fruition.



The MCE, in collaboration with the MP, gave about one thousand, two hundred and fifty (I,250) cement blocks, one hundred and fifty (150) bags of cement, sand and about five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC5,000) to help begin the project, and promised that more contributions would be made later.

There was an appeal for funds to raise more resources for the project.
