W GONJA: MCE hands over two mechanized boreholes to Busunu Community
The Municipal Chief Executive for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Saeed Muhazu Jibril has handed over two mechanised boreholes to the Busunu community in the Savannah Region on Thursday 19th March 2020.

Speaking at a short ceremony in Busunu covered by Bole based Nkilgi Fm, Mr Jibril Muhazu said the project came through the Ministry of Special Initiatives last year where every Constituency was tasked to push forward projects that cost GHc 500,000.
The West Gonja Municipal Assembly, therefore, decided to push forward two mechanised boreholes for Busunu, CHPs compound at Mognori and a 3 unit classroom block for the Larabanga community which has been completed and handed over to the community with the health facility at Mognori construction still ongoing.
He said the water situation in the municipality is a bigger problem especially for the people of Busunu that made him allocate the two boreholes to the community.
The MCE also said the boreholes will go a long way to help in solving the problem of water shortage and the people of Busunu can attest to the fact that within the four-year mandate given him as the Municipal Chief Executive, he has been able to do a lot for the people.
He further assured the people of Busunu that contractors will be at the site next week to start the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Busunu D/A Primarily School.
Assemblyman for the Busunu electoral area Hon. Dari Thomas Osman praised the MCE for providing them with water since water is the main problem in the area.
He thanked the MCE on behalf of the Chief and people of Busunu and further appealed for more since the two is not enough for the community even though it will reduce the stress the people of the area goes through in such of water.
Touching on Damongo water, Mr Muhazu said aside from the Water project from the government of Ghana, contractors will from next week start desilting the Damongo Agriculture Dam and also dredge it to connect to the E.A Mahama Dam to make it store enough water.
The MCE who visited the Palace of the Busunuwura spoke extensively about Coronavirus and tasked the chiefs to adhere to the call of the Overlord of the Gonja traditional council, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I) about the ban on visitations to the palace, ban on funeral, naming and wedding ceremonies in the Savannah Region.
To the Muslim community, the MCE said he has been to Larabanga Mosque, Damongo Central Mosque and finally with them in Busunu to make sure Jumuah Prayers from Friday 20th, 2020 should not be observed until further notice since many people are at risk of contracting the disease in such an environment.
He said similar directives from the office of the National Chief Imam are being adhered to nationwide and Busunu should not be an exception.
