As the embodiment of women, she said queen-mothers served as role models in society and urged them to remain moderate in their dressings and avoid unruly behaviors.
Nana Poduo gave the advice when she performed traditional rites to seal the enstoolment of a new sub-queen of the Traditional Area, at a colorful ceremony held at Odomase Number One in the Sunyani Municipality.
Known in private life as Mrs Beatrice Afia Nkansah, a businesswoman, she was enstooled as the Asokwahemaa (sub-queen in-charge of protocol) with the stool name Nana Afia Adutwumwaa Mmrosan I.
She was carried shoulder-high by the highly excited people and paraded through the principal streets of the town amid drumming and dancing.
Nana Poduo II emphasised that queenship as a noble and royal institution, required queen-mothers to serve their people with respect and humility, and avoiding behaviours that could tarnish or bring its image into public ridicule and disrepute.
She also advised all queen-mothers to spearhead the holistic development of women and girls by ensuring that practices inimical to their growth and development were tackled proactively.
Nana Poduo explained that the new sub-queen earned the traditional title because of her good way of life, sobriety and passion for development, and advised women in the area to emulate her lifestyle.
On her part, Nana Mmrosan expressed her heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Paramount Queen Mother, the chiefs and people of the entire Traditional Area, and promised to conduct herself responsibly in the discharge of her duties.
