ATEBUBU: BAC holds consultative meeting on MSEs

The Atebubu-Amantin district office of the Business Advisory Centre BAC has organized a day’s stakeholder’s meeting on micro and small enterprises MSEs in Atebubu.

Participants included groups and individuals in bakery, barbering, hairdressing, photography and gari processing. Others were carpentry, auto mechanics dressmaking and tailoring.

According to Mr. Isaac Oppong, district head of the BAC, the meeting aimed at sharing ideas on best practices, opportunities and challenges facing the MSEs.

The Atebubu-Amantin District Chief Executive, Mr. Eric Osei stressed the importance of MSEs to the development of the economy of the country and urged them to partner parents to shape the future of the youth by providing them with the necessary employable skills.

He asked MSE groups to be open in their activities since they can only strive in honesty and unity.

While reminding them of the availability of the Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre MASLOC facility which they could access to boost their businesses, the DCE advised them to meet their financial obligations to the assembly to ensure the development of the district.

The Atebubu area head of the Environmental Protection Agency Mr. Jonas Kpierekoh spoke about the need for the various businesses to make their activities environmentally friendly stressing specifically on waste disposal.

He urged them to be mindful of their health during the course of work and urged them to adopt safety measures to avoid accidents and infections.

Participants were taken through conflict resolution skills which Mr. Isaac Oppong described as key to the survival of the various MSE groups in the district.

He also touched on the Rural Enterprises Development Fund and the Matching Grant Fund available to small businesses for the acquisition of equipment.

Representatives of the Yapra and Amantin and Kasei rural banks took the opportunity to speak on the various products available to small scale businesses.
