Kintampo North Celebrates farmers

The Kintampo Municipality has held its Municipal farmer’s day celebration as the nation celebrates farmers for their hardworking and contribution towards the growth and development of the country.

This year’s event, which held at Dawadawa was under the theme: “Planting for Food and Jobs: Consolidating Food System.”
The Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw congratulated farmers for working tirelessly to h feed the country and also for export.

According to him, President Akufo Addo and the government has invested massively in the Agriculture sector of the country which the municipality is no exception.

He added that the government is still working hard to ensure that the country becomes self-sufficient with regards to food production.


Also speaking at the event, the Municipal Director of Agric, Mr. Simon Yambor noted that, agriculture has now become the pivot of the country’s economy which has drastically reduced poverty among the citizenry, especially the youth.

He said the department had taken steps to address some threats of farming activities in the area, adding that these include; activities of nomadic herdsmen, rampant bushfires among others.

In a bid to improve farming in the municipality, Mr Yambor also outlined that the government has distributed some farm inputs to farmers and also offered them training to improve their harvest under the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative.


Mr Yambor did not relent to speak on some challenges facing the department aside the Covid-19 pandemic.

He touched on deplorable state of road network to farms, farming communities and market centres as their main source of worry.
Meanwhile, Mr. Charles Nsor, a 38-Year old man was crowned the municipal best Farmer in Kintampo.
